The park operates seasonally

Planning a trip to Ashfall requires a bit more advance attention than visiting the attraction year-round, as the park operates on a seasonal schedule that typically runs from early May to early October.

Outside of that month, the site is closed to the public.

Hours of operation during the open season are Tuesday to Saturday 9:30am to 4:30pm and Sunday 12:30pm to 4:30pm, closed Monday.

Those hours may change throughout the season, and it is strongly advised to check the current schedule at ashfall.unl.edu before driving, especially for visitors traveling significant distances.

The summer months provide the richest experience as university students and researchers are likely to be actively working on the bone beds during July and August.

Visiting on a weekday during those months increases opportunities to see excavations in progress and to interact extensively with those working.
