A Heartsong is a song or poem that comes from deep within. It is an expression of itself. There is only one heart song for all creation. Praise the Lord. So what’s your heart song?
Almost every morning just before dawn I wake to the sound of a mockingbird singing its little heart out near my bedroom window. He sits on the upper branches of our weeping cherry and shouts his song. It’s not even that pretty! No apparent melody, just a series of screams, shouts and shrill whistles. He doesn’t seem to care at all! He simply spells it out with all that his dear soul possesses. This is his heart song!
Not the gentlest way to wake up. Some mornings it’s comical, but some mornings it’s very, very annoying!!!!
Recently a fragment of scripture popped into my head. Something about the trees in the field clapping their hands. What a great word picture! Do you see how the wind blows through the trees and makes them “clapp”?
Although this verse is taken out of context, I like to think that the whole earth is singing a song of great worship to the LORD! Yes, even my mockingbird friend!
SING TO THE LORD ALL THE EARTH
SING TO THE LORD, BLESS HIS NAME;
PREACH THE GOOD NEWS OF HIS SALVATION DAY BY DAY…
LET THE HEAVEN REJOICE AND THE EARTH REJOICE
LET THE SEA ROAL AND ALL IT CONTAINS
LET THE FIELD REJOICE AND ALL THAT IS IN IT
THEN ALL THE TREES IN THE FOREST SHALL SHOUT FOR JOY
BEFORE THE LORD, FOR HE COMES Psalm 96: 1,2, 11-13
The whole earth knows and gives glory to the Lord in its own way! Nature knows her Creator and in a great and wonderful act of corporate worship does exactly what she was created to do. It shows who HE is.
This is truly a great act of worship!
Even my boisterous little mockingbird friend is singing with everything in him and doing his little birdy things just like God made him to do. And this pleases Go and is a great obeisance to the Author of the Universe!
Nature cannot wait for the Lord to return. Everything created in nature is in great disarray and is waiting with great anticipation for the return of Jesus.
For creation waits in eager anticipation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subject to disappointment, not by its own choice, but by the will of him who subjected it, in the hope that the creation itself would be freed from its slavery to corruption and brought to the freedom and glory of the children of God.. Romans 8:19-21
But here’s the amazing thing, God’s most precious creation doesn’t necessarily feel that way! Unlike the rest of creation, it glorifies itself and acts independently of its wonderful Creator. His songs and deeds are self-directed and much of him is an abomination to the Lord! We seek ourselves and are filled with self-glorification!
However, God’s purpose for us is quite different. We were created to have the most intimate relationship with God Himself of ALL! Our being and life was created to be a great praise to the Lord, just like the rest of the created world.
This morning I got up and took a lesson from my little bird friend. I started my day with my own song to the Lord.
THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE, LET US REJOICE AND REJOICE Psalm 118:24
Let us all join the creation and praise our Creator and worship Him!!! Let us live in relationship with Him as we were created to be! Lord, let our heartfelt song be praise to YOU and YOU alone!
