I recently ran across one of my early blog posts where I wrote about puttering, probably for the first time.
That post was 19 years ago. How?
I can’t believe I’ve been blogging this long.
Here is what I wrote at the beginning of that post:
After 21 years of being together, my husband and I have finally realized something – we enjoy puttering. I used to think we were obsessive about cleaning, messy or challenged with time-management because we were often late for things.
Clearly, I thought, something was wrong with us! Why haven’t we always been able to tackle bigger, more important jobs like cleaning the garage? Why did it seem like everyone else did so much more than us? Why were we late for the function when we were all dressed up and ready with plenty of time? Recently it has become more obvious. We are putters (is that a word?). That explains everything.
Often our day starts with a list in our mind of things we need to do and get done. We accept that it’s going to be “busy” and we start eating cereal or toast, making lattes and before we know it…we’re puttering.
Reading that made me laugh.
But here’s the thing.
We are still the same!
At that time we had toddlers and teenagers at home.
Now we are empty nesters with two chicks.
Seasons change. A lot has changed since then.
Except, we’re still putters.
I think once you discover you’re a putter, it’s probably safe to say you’re always going to be a putter.
Puttering is part of how I function in the world LOL!
Are you a putterer?

And below I’m sharing a few moments around the house this first week of May!
