During pressure washing, trapped dirt, organic residue, and debris can be washed through the drainage holes, leaving a brown streak on the face of the vinyl.
Brown streaks appear after washing
The first photo shows narrow brown streaks running down the overlap between each course of vinyl siding. Instead of random stains, the markings start at the panel joints and continue towards the ground.
That pattern indicates that the water has gotten behind the siding rather than leaving dirt on the surface. Each streak follows a drainage path built into the siding system.
