Out to Sea: A Day Trip by the Sea

We don’t really travel far from home these days, but we do like to take a few vacation day trips.

We know how quickly summer flies, my husband and I have already started our weekly summer tradition of making quick, often impromptu, visits to local spots we love.

Most of our day trips aren’t planned in advance, like a true vacation, which is actually how I like to summer. Traveling and all the planning involved can be stressful and expensive, but any day adventure can happen on a whim.

Whenever a whim strikes, or we have a window of opportunity or even some errands to run while we’re on the island, we have nearby spots we like to stop by to enjoy. Rather than turning into an event to coordinate and plan, they feel like a moment, a moment to be present in the summer.

I used to share our Check out the blog posts here (A fun twist on my childhood adventures where I often went “out to sea” to my grandparents in a small row boat on a small lagoon).

So in honor of old school blogging and my 19th blogging anniversary (!), I thought I’d take you along on a few local adventures this summer, whether it’s more of a day trip or a quick escape into a typical day like the ones I’ll share here!

Today’s adventure was to a small coastal town called La Conner.

My favorite shop here is called Restless and Refurbished. They have a mix of old and new but they import European antiques which I love to look at.

If I had a bigger house I would always come here to buy furniture like this! 🙂

One of the things I love about living here in the NW by the sea is how slow paced and relaxed everything is. You can go to the beach here in the middle of the week or a few shops in the cute little town and sometimes you’ll feel like you’re the only one there! Summer is peak tourist time but weekday adventures still seem fairly quiet on most days.

Do you have a favorite summer day trip destination that you enjoy visiting? I’d love to hear about it!
