I love a house tour that starts with a time.
it is true
I am the luckiest duck in the world to be the temporary caretaker of this home.
That’s exactly how I feel about these rooms, this window, and this vintage dresser from my husband’s grandmother, brilliantly painted in spring flowers. If this is your first visit here on the blog and I’m new to you, here’s the story behind this house starts here.
The Reader’s Digest version? I grew up in this house. I got married. We moved away. My mom sold it. We bought it back – there’s so much life in those five sentences.
And now?
I am lucky enough to walk into this living room.
Want to take a little tour with me?
Wait.
I need coffee first.
(sound of shuffling footsteps)
okay
I’m back Let’s do the spring tour of my former house.
General aside: (You might need a drink, too. There are TONS of pictures.)

spring tour home 2026
Let’s start the spring tour at home, coming through the back door I’ve been through 4,956,219 times. I know it’s a bit random to start at the back door, but I love it so much.
This door holds so many chapters of my story.
Literally.
i brought two little dancers I got home from the hospital and left to continue the first meeting with an angry lemon through the back door.
If you walk around the corner?
You will enter our family room. This is our TV room. Our meeting room.
When I was growing up, we called it the stink room.
I used to sit in this room my necklace with added beads and Lee Press On Nails and glued my eyes to the cutest boy with sparkling brown eyes and dimples.
Oh, the stories this room can tell.
like this one…..and oh wait…this one.
// brown transfer kit // handmade wooden houses //
My favorite addition to the family room this year?
This brown transfer software.
I’ve been looking everywhere for brown transfer software.
And guess where I found it?
WALMART.
i know right I guess the Pioneer Woman heard my pleas and created this brown transfer kit just for me. The set comes with four bowls, four plates and four salad plates.

The family room is open to the kitchen with a large center island.
We renovating this kitchen when we moved into the house, but this is where we used to hang out in high school.
There was a large round table where the hut was.
And there was no central kitchen island – instead, there was a bar that jutted halfway into the room.

I sat in the chairs, giggling and laughing, eating Captain Crunch and listening to my father tell me the whole story of the Revolutionary War.
I would write my homework on the counter and I roll my eyes at my mother and talk on the phone with a cord strung around the island in front of the refrigerator.
And then?
When did we get back?
My kids did the EXACT same thing (without the corded phone).
// metal garland //
// brown carrying plate // metal dogwood wreath // moss bunnies // metal garland //
Just off the kitchen is the other back entrance.
I shared this last week but wanted to include it in the tour.
Remember that piece I salvaged from the side of the road?
I added this plate I got from Walmart.
Layer with this metal dogwood garland and these moss bunnies.
You you can see the plateau here.
You you can see the bunnies here.

This is the dining room where I sat before school every day and where I have celebrated more Easters, Thanksgivings, Christmases and birthdays than I can even count.
Here are some of the dining room sources:

The walls in this room were artificially plastered by my sister years ago with plasterboard and a hair comb.
You you can see how to create this look here.
The chandelier is my grandfather’s and has nicks and scratches on the floor from dragging and pushing chairs back and forth across the table.
Both the chandelier and the scratches are equally valuable to me.

And then?
On the other side of the retro front doors in the dining room is the front living room.
This wonderful, amazing, sunlight-filled room.
It’s full of color and pattern and there’s so much joy in these four walls of this living room that I can’t even write it for you.
Here are some of the sources from the living room:

the truth?
This house is my fairy tale.
There’s a dance floor and trestles full of food and a spiral staircase and a handsome prince and his two sons and two maids and a trusty horse parked in the garage.
And right now, because it’s raining so much, there’s even a moat and a drawbridge.
// artificial peonies //
This is our house.
It’s full of love and life and joy and hope and the occasional random quiz about all 50 states and their capitals.
There I fell in love with a prince and he swept me to the curb in his arms and all these years later he can be standing in that kitchen making scrambled eggs and my heart still flutters.
This is the house of all stories and happily ever afters.
The end (which is actually the beginning all over again).
Happy 2026. Spring is almost here.
