Natural Wood Burning Projects – Crafts by Amanda

I remember when I was a little girl my older brother had a wood burning kit. I was fascinated by all the cool designs he was creating, but then I only tried it once. He showed me how to do it and that was it. I made one and never did it again… until a few years ago.

In 2023 I signed up for a subscription box through Amazon. I wanted to try something different. I was looking for monthly craft projects but everything was “curly” or more girly. I just wanted to try some new things!

I signed up for Craftsman Crate. It is important to mention here that this is NOT a sponsored post, they don’t even know that I am posting this honestly. Amazon canceled the subscription box services they were offering so I have a few boxes waiting to be worked on. But Craftsman Crate still offers its subscription boxes via their website.

The box included everything you need, the wood burning tool, a few pieces of wood, patterns, transfer paper, etc. I chose three patterns (hummingbird, dandelion, daisy) and the wood coasters and got to work!

After tracing the design onto the transfer paper onto the wooden square, I then used the wood burning tool to trace onto the transferred design.

They included instructions and tips that were very helpful. Especially since I hadn’t used a wood burning tool since the 70’s!

Overall, this was a fun project. I love that I now have a wood burning tool that I can create more projects with.
