Painting delicate rosettes

  • We used Crafts Smart Acrylic Paints in Dakar shades of Pale Pink, Pink, Lush Foliage and Lush Foliage Green.

Using a fine tip paintbrush, paint a circle about 3/8″ in size in a darker shade of pink. Paint additional circles near the first circle to create a cluster.

In light pink, draw a swirl inside each of the painted circles.

Added light pink to the center of the painted circles.

Next, paint the foliage a darker green in pairs around the many rosettes and then add a touch of lighter green on top.

Continue to paint as many rosettes as desired around the candles. Leave the paint to dry completely.

Sweet Minimal Hearts Painting

  • We used Decoart Americana acrylic paint in True Red

Using a fine tip paintbrush, apply two small red dots and then join at an angle to form a heart.

Deliberately imperfect abstract line painting

  • We used DecoArt Crafter’s acrylic paint in black

To create this fun, modern abstract Dalmatian pattern, keep in mind that anything goes!

Using a fine tip paintbrush, apply dots of uneven shape and size to the pillar candle.

Add another coat as needed and smooth the outer edges.

Design variations

In addition to the above design ideas, try drawing simple flowers, leaves, abstract brush strokes or even polka dots.

You can match candle colors to party themes, seasons or room decor: pastel colors work beautifully for spring, while gold and dark tones are perfect for winter or holiday candles.

Troubleshooting tips

  • If you make a mistake while painting, gently wipe it with a damp cloth before the paint dries and try again.
  • Use thin layers of paint instead of thick ones so the design dries quickly and looks smooth.
