If you have a Bissell Steam Shot OmniReach or Steam Shot Omni Steam Cleaner, it is important to stop using it immediately. About 1.7 million units were recently recalled across North America after it was discovered that attachments could unexpectedly detach from steam cleaners and eject hot water or steam onto users during use, posing a serious burn risk. The cleaners were sold for between $9 and $55 at Target, Walmart and other department and home goods stores nationwide and on Bissell.com, Amazon.com, HSN.com and other websites from October 2024 to March 2026.

Identification of safety hazards
When the attachment is disconnected from the cleaner, it can shoot hot water or steam directly at the user. Bissell has received more than 200 reports of hot water or steam escaping unexpectedly from steam cleaners’ attachments, including 161 reports of burns, including one second-degree burn. Because of these risks, Bissell and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) advise consumers to immediately stop using affected products and attachments, even if they are not defective.

Check if you have a defective product
To determine if your steam cleaner is part of this recall, examine the product rating label sticker on the bottom of the machine to find the model number. The recalled units were sold in green, grey, white, blue and dark blue colors. Depending on the model, products include accessory nozzles, grout brushes, round detail brushes, flat scraping tools, and angle concentrator tools, and may also include extension hoses, fabric steamers, and steam squeegees. Connections and hoses are all gray.
Affected model numbers include: 4155, 4155L, 4155W, 4155G, 4155D, 4155J, 4155Y, 4155P, 4171, 4171L, 4171W and 4171F.
What to do if you have one of the recalled models
If you own one of the recalled models, stop using it immediately. Collect all affected attachments and place them in your household trash. Once the attachments are in the trash, take a clear photo that shows all of the attachments disposed of together inside the trash.
Do not dispose of the cleaner, water tank cap or measuring cup itself, as those parts are not affected by the recall and can be safely used while waiting for your free new attachment kit.
How to get free new connections
To remedy this situation, Bissell is offering free replacement attachments to customers. interview www.steamshot2026.com Find instructions for registering for the recall and uploading a photo showing that the original attachment accessories have been properly disposed of.
Within 4 to 5 weeks, your free new connection kit should arrive, containing blue and black connections, water tank cap and measuring cup. Once you have received your new connections, please carefully review all enclosed instructions before reinstalling and using your machine again.
