If organizing the house was as simple as buying some cute baskets from Target, I would have solved that problem years ago.
Instead, I’ve learned the hard way that the best storage solutions aren’t necessarily the prettiest. They are what you actually use.
After years of living in our 1960s colonial with two growing girls, a husband, a dog, a home-based business, and lots of seasonal decorations, I’ve discovered that the secret to a home that feels serene isn’t necessarily less stuff. It gives stuff that you have room to live with.

1. Hide the toy collection in plain sight
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as a mom is that toys have the magical ability to multiply overnight.

The laundry room is one of the hardest-working spaces in our home, but that doesn’t mean it has to look completely utilitarian.
