I am often asked how we keep our house clean. Trust me, our house isn’t always as spicy and sprawling as I’d like (no paid housekeepers), but we have some simple tricks and systems that work for us (and keep our house clean, even with pups and toddlers).

Today I’ll be sharing 7 ways we keep our homes clean (enough)!

This post is free for everyone on the blog but will be added to ours Homebody membership Even a 10 minute sanctuary gallery, so it’s easy for homebodies to find later! Homebody House Homebodies (like me!) is a calming (social media and ad free), helpful and inspiring place for those looking to create more peace in their sanctuaries.

One: steps

staircase

We clean our stairs regularly (we have We love this broom and dust pan for fast sweeps). Keeping the steps swept makes the whole house look clean. It really doesn’t take much time, just a few minutes. We only clean them twice a week.

Two: Furniture

Here’s my secret to keeping furniture and bench seats clean, even with pets and toddlers. Washable tableclothsQuilts or blankets over everything. It’s much easier to throw furniture in the wash twice a month or as needed than to constantly clean it.

Then we don’t stress when the dogs make a beeline for the furniture after coming in from the rain! The key to this task for me is to intentionally buy cute blankets and quilts for this purpose that coordinate with our home. Tip: Don’t cover your furniture with blankets you don’t like or don’t like the way your house looks.

We have a few blankets and love to bounce on the furniture:

Three: Toddler messes

We love having babies and puppies around, so they are always our priority on a clean house. But you can get both with a few tricks. If one of our little girls eats a messy meal or does a little art project with us at home, no problem.

we have These handy little baby tarps which covers benches, and can hang down to protect lower cabinets, floors and rugs. 🙂 It’s easy to flick or machine wash away and the area is still clean, like magic!

Four: floors

Keeping floors clean is one of the best ways to keep your home clean.

With pets and daily life, we put it to good use Our robot vacuum on the main floor. It works on rugs and floors and even navigates around all the furniture!

I use This other vacuum Upstairs because it’s easy to hide, very light and works very well to pick up all the fluff, hair, whatever stuff ends up on the floor.

Five: Spills and accidents on fabrics and mattresses

When spills or accidents happen, we use This portable cleaner Which works for our fabrics and rugs. We love it!

Washable rugs like this one Also makes cleaning easier.

Six: Dust

People often ask how we live with dust.

Here are two of my dusting secrets:

Use this For quick dusting of surfaces. It works almost everywhere (around light fixtures and stair railings!).

Items are regularly tidied, dusted and polished, refreshing our decor and shelves seasonally.
