I don’t know about you, but the cupboard under the sink has to be tackled in my kitchen a lot. It’s the dumping ground for all the cleaning products I don’t want on display, as well as my (many) washing-up tools, bin bags and other random items that don’t have a proper home. And I can’t stand it anymore.
And when I have tried Organize my under-the-sink cupboard More often than not, I have always struggled to get past the awkward placement of the sink pipes, the small space and the fact that I have so many different things to store there. So, the result was never very effective, and most of the time I moved things around without actually making a difference.
But I’ve recently been taking steps to follow suit People with tidy kitchensAnd the only area of my cooking space that I haven’t tackled properly is the area under this sink. That’s why I took inspiration from people who have organized under-sink areas to see what they use to keep things uncluttered. And this is what I am adding to my basket.

1. Cleaning organizers

Mu Ideal homeIt is my job to verify Best cleaning products – So you could say I have more of them in my house than the average person. But I know I’m not the only one who struggles with a game of Tetris, with all the bottles, packets and boxes of cleaning products you have to play under the sink.
Our Editor-in-Chief, HeatherHave experienced the same problem before Fixed that with an ingenious under-the-sink storage solution. Sadly, the exact pull-out shelf she purchased is no longer available, but I have found alternatives that offer a similar sliding design and integrated storage box. she would suggest Decluttering your cleaning products First to make sure you’re only storing what you need, though.
The beauty of these organizers is that they negate the need to reach into the back of the under-the-sink cupboard to get the cleaning product you’re after. This will prevent the bottle from tipping over as you arrive and allow you to keep everything in its proper place.
2. Stackable baskets or boxes

If you don’t want to add integrated organizers to your under-the-sink cupboard in your kitchen—perhaps because it’s not really tall enough—another option is to use stackable baskets and boxes to store your under-sink items.
Of course, you don’t need to stack them if you don’t have a lot of things in there, but if your cupboard under the sink is full, boxes with lids are worth choosing. This way, they can sit neatly on top of each other, making the whole space look much neater and more organised.
I also suggest choosing clear baskets or boxes, as you can easily see what’s in them without taking them all out of the cupboard. But if clear boxes aren’t quite your style, it’s worth using a label maker like this one Dymo Omega Label Maker Hand Embosser (£20 at Argos) So you can still clearly differentiate between your dishwasher tablet box and your oven cleaning tools.
3. Tension rod
I am very vocal about my love Using tension rods to create extra space in a small homeAnd this is actually something I’ve already implemented in my under-the-sink cupboard – and I can’t recommend it enough. Finally, the tension rod instantly doubles the storage space you have, without getting in the way.
The beauty of tension rods is that they can be used in any space, large or small. You just need to adjust them to fit the cupboard under your sink and see if they provide hanging space in an area that normally wouldn’t have it. After that, you can hang everything there from your cleaning bottles to your cleaning cloth. You can also hang them there to dry.
If you’re going to do the latter, though, I’d suggest adding a non-electric dehumidifier like this one Minky Moisture Absorber (£25 at Argos) Go to the closet to keep odors and mold at bay, as the closet under the sink is already prone to leaky pipes and dampness.
4. Door storage
one The biggest under-sink storage mistakes You cannot use the door as additional storage space. And when you think about it, it makes perfect sense—especially since the doors offer rare vertical space that’s not obstructed by under-sink pipework.
Thankfully, there are plenty of under-the-sink door storage options, from self-adhesive hooks and over-the-door baskets perfect for renters to drill-in options for homeowners. And you can cut and change it to suit the collection you want.
Personally, I think this door-mounted storage is ideal for small items like rubber gloves, cleaning sponges, cloths and brushes. This means they won’t get lost in the back of the cupboard, either, as I’m so guilty of buying new ones when I think I’ve lost them forever (but they’re just hiding behind big bottles).
5. A lazy susan

A lazy susan is one of those things that people with A tidy kitchen always has cupboardsAnd it’s something I’ve used to easily organize my food packets. But what they fail to realize is that the cupboard under the sink is also a kitchen cupboard – so why not use a lazy Susan there too?
Heather added something like this to her under-sink cupboard, and she found the round, spinning storage option to be a game-changer for her bottled cleaning products, as it fits perfectly and is easy to reach. It’s also a great way to check what you need to stock up on.
Personally, this is one of my favorite under-the-sink storage options, but I decided to pair mine with an absorbent mat like this one. URMONA Waterproof Silicone Under Sink Mat (£16.99 on Amazon) Keep things as dry as possible. Just in case!
