Looking for fun beach reads for spring break? Here is a list I compiled of my favorites and a few of my mom’s favorites.
Westley, my niece, and my sister all flew out yesterday for a cruise that leaves from Puerto Rico.
And when we weighed her suitcase to take it for the trip, it was 4 pounds more.
Can you guess what the extra four pounds were?
Books.
I come from a family of readers and now the next generation is carrying on the tradition. It’s family fun, reading, discussing and sharing books we love (and some we may not want to read again).
There’s just something about spring break and books.
I posted this list last year, but I’ve read so many really good beach reads between now and then that I wanted to update it.
And to make it even more fun?
So today I asked my mom for help and I begged read about everyone’s favorite beach on Facebook.
So my mom has a few book recommendations and I have a few recommendations, and you all had a few recommendations.
And between all of us?
Here are 10 of the best beach reads for your spring break.

1. The debutante’s last dance
We’ll start with a choice my mother made.
This is the story of Lily Nichols, a debutante with a glittering entrance into the world of high society.

Except she discovers a family secret that could change everything, and she must choose between the life she’s always known and the one she’ll create for herself.
// The correspondent //
2. The correspondent
This was a recommendation right off the Facebook list.
And it was also one of our book club books.
And the book club host sent us letters.
Because the book is all about letters written by Sybil Van Antwerp. The letters help her review her life and face a painful past, helping her find forgiveness and move on.

3. The Paradise Problem
This is my recommendation and is the perfect beach read.
There’s romance and mystery, a remote island and a billionaire.
Can it get any better?
Anna Green marries Liam Weston to get into married student housing, then thinks they’re divorced.
except.
Except they never divorced and she finds out later that she’s still married to him and he’s a millionaire. He asks her to accompany him to the resort for his sister’s wedding and pretend to be in love with each other.
It’s so good and the love story is even better.

// The five star weekend //
4. The five-star weekend
This is a book straight off the Facebook list (but I like it too). Elin is the queen of beach reading and has two books on this list.
I’ve read tons of her books and picked two of my favorites and this is one of them.
Maybe I like it so much because it’s about a food blogger named Hollis.
Recovering from the tragedy, she invites five of her closest friends from different eras of her life to her Nantucket house for a weekend.
I liked it because the descriptions of Nantucket are so good and there is an amazing twist at the end.

// The Lost Summers of Newport //
5. The Lost Summers of Newport
This book is amazing because it has three different stories in different time periods coming together.
There are three timelines – 1899, 1958 and present day.
It begins with a modern TV show about old historic homes, and as they tour the Newport estate, another story from another time emerges.
You know how much I love that time period and I was in Newport to tour the houses so the novel really came to life.

// The Forgotten Garden //
6. The Forgotten Garden
It’s all about a little girl who was found sitting on a dock in Australia after (apparently) taking a two-month boat trip alone from England.
She is adopted by the harbor master and as she grows up she tries to discover the mystery of who she is.
But she can’t discover who her family is, so it’s left to her granddaughter to unravel the mystery.

// Theo of Golden //
7. Theo of Golden
This is such an enjoyable read. This is a story that makes you believe in humanity again. It begins one day in early spring when an 86-year-old man arrives in the town of Golden. He sees a wall of portraits in the local gallery and begins to “gift” the portraits back to their owners.
What happens next is nothing short of miraculous. Life changes. People achieve more than they ever thought they could – all because someone believed in them.
And there’s a twist at the end that I didn’t expect to come.
Amazing book. Really amazing.

// The room on Rue Amelie //
8. The room on Amelie Street
This is another recommendation from my mom.
The book is set in Nazi-occupied Paris, where American bride Ruby Benoit lives with her husband.
And then?
He disappears and everyone is suspicious that he is in the resistance.
Ruby has a young Jewish neighbor, Charlotte Dutcher, who she hides with a stranded British RAF pilot, Thomas Clarke. It’s all about bravery in the face of enormous challenge.
// A broken country //
9. Broken country
This was my book club book this month and was also selected by Reese.
It’s very popular right now, so many of you may have already read it.
Set in rural Dorset, England, the novel goes back and forth between the past and the present (with the same characters). Beth, now married to Frank, a local farmer, is drawn back into a childhood romance when Gabriel – her first love – returns with his son,
A tragic event occurs and she must choose between the two loves of her life.

// Nantucket Hotel //
10. Nantucket Hotel
Here is Elin’s second book to make the list.
Lisbeth Keaton had a really bad breakup and she took a job reviving the once grand but now dilapidated Nantucket Hotel.
The hotel has just been purchased by British billionaire owner Xavier Darling, who is determined to impress a high-profile travel influencer (another influencer book, do you see a pattern).
There’s a mystery and 5 or 6 different storylines, all involving drama (and some romance).
