Bathroom accessories are usually an afterthought. Plastic holders, bulk mounts or cheap chrome pieces are installed only to solve a basic function, without adding anything to the space.
But this project takes a different approach. Instead of buying a standard holder, a piece of brass string is shaped into a minimal, functional design that looks deliberate and surprisingly refined.
The idea is simple: bend a solid wire into a clean shape that holds the roll, then mount it using two small hooks.
How does a brass holder work?
Design relies on tension and shape rather than multiple parts. The wire forms a horizontal bar for the toilet paper roll, with small loops at each end that rest on wall-mounted hooks.
Composition includes:
- A brass wire in the shape of a holder
- Two screw hooks supporting the wire
- Open ends that allow for quick roll changes
Because the holder is not fixed in place, it can be removed instantly, making it more flexible than traditional mounts.
Easy build process
This project uses very few materials and takes about 15 minutes from start to finish.
- Shape the ends of the wire – Using pliers and cloth to protect the surface, bend both ends of the brass wire into small loops. These loops will sit on the hooks.
- Measure the width – use a toilet paper roll as a guide to determine the distance. This ensures that the holder fits comfortably without being too tight.
- Make the main form – bend the wire into a flat horizontal section with two short vertical ends. Balance the shape so it sits evenly once installed.
- Adjust Alignment – Lay the part flat and correct any uneven angles. Small adjustments make a big difference in how clean the end result looks.
- Install Hooks – Screw two brass hooks into the wall, aligned horizontally. Position them based on your desired height and depth.
- Mount the holder – place the wire loops on the hooks, slide the toilet paper roll into place and the setup is ready for use.
An easy fix using what you already have
This is not about creating a perfect designer piece. It’s about solving a small problem with stuff you probably already have around the house.
A leftover piece of brass wire, a couple of hooks and a few bends are enough to make something functional without buying anything new. It won’t replace a premium fixture, but it gets the job done in a clean and practical way.
It works especially well when mounted on wood. On a rustic bathroom cabinet or plain wood panel, the brass draws warmth from the surface and feels more intentional, even if the solution itself is refined.
