This is the best place to store your extra bedding

Sheet Storage Hack

In our house, we only have one small closet in the hallway that leads back to the bedrooms, so we have to use it for a few different purposes. Until recently, not only did I store extra bedding in this closet, but it also stored cleaning supplies, paper products, office supplies, and more!

With as much stuff as I had crammed into that little closet, you won’t be surprised to learn that it was basically impossible to keep everything organized. But during one of my recent wardrobe reorganization efforts, I realized a few important things.

The first realization was that we had more spare sheets and pillowcases than we really needed (or that everyone really need it). The second realization was that all that bedding was taking up valuable shelf space that I could have used for other purposes.

I ended up solving both problems at once by doing one simple switch! And that’s the purpose of today’s post, because I’m going to share the brilliant bedding storage hack that helped me solve my closet organization problems.

The first thing I did (which I probably should have done a long time ago) was to get rid of most of the extra beds we had. I decided to keep just one extra set of sheets and pillowcases per bed, but that was just the beginning – the real difference was where I ended up keeping those sheets!

How to store your bed linen under the mattress

I decided to move the extra bedroom sets and put them away under the mattress they belonged to. Not only did this free up a lot of valuable space in my linen closet, but it also turned out to be a really convenient system (but more on that later).

Here’s how you can apply this brilliant storage hack to your own home!

Step 1 – Fold the bedding neatly

Start by folding your sheets as precisely as possible. This will help keep them from wrinkling while they are stored.

Step 2 – Put it all together

Stack folded sheets and pillowcases together, or you can make a handy bedding ‘bundle’. To do this, slide the folded sheet(s) and one of the pillowcases into the remaining pillowcase to keep them together.

Step 3 – tuck it under your mattress

Finally, tuck the extra set of bedding between your mattress and the box spring. (I recommend placing it near the foot of your bed near the outside edge where it will be easily accessible but less noticeable.)

And that’s it! 🙂

Why does it work?

This storage hack not only frees up space in your linen closet, but it also keeps your linen fresh and dust-free! When it’s time to wash your sheets, all you have to do is remove the sheets, remove the clean topper from under your mattress and make your bed – it doesn’t get much faster or easier than that!
