It doesn’t matter if you like beach themes or coastal decor… who doesn’t love driftwood decor? Steve and I were talking just the other day about how it’s not as easy to get by as in the “old days”… but so what? 🙂 You can buy them at craft stores and I just found a really nice piece at Goodwill for less than $6! And you can still collect it in many areas, just be sure to check your local and state regulations. High Tide Girl Etsy sells great pieces, and I’m sure there are many other online sources as well. Driftwood coffee table
‘Charleston Crafted‘ is a fantastic tutorial for a really easy DIY driftwood coffee table. We love that this project only requires two tools… a drill, and a saw. (A handsaw will do too!) Obviously you need a large piece of wood to make this awesome table. They walk you through the entire project, tell you about everything they’ll do, and even update you on how well it’s holding up! (For years now!)
You can see an amazing LA interior designer using a similar piece on ‘Houzz’. ‘Design by Maya Williams‘ specializes in coastal homes including gorgeous lots in Malibu. Don’t quote us, but bet they spent a lot More for that driftwood decor piece than it would cost to make your own!
Driftwood chandelier
Go to ‘HometalkAnd learn how ‘skilled thrifty creatives’ used reclaimed wood, upcycled wire and some curtain rings bought on sale to DIY this beautiful driftwood chandelier. She used the skeleton of her builder grade light fixture as a base. Lots of step by step photos on how she prepared the wood and attached it to the original metal frame. What a fun, creative piece for a front entry!
If you want to make some mini driftwood chandeliers, try this project ‘DIY driftwood‘ Use a glue gun and balloon to shape the driftwood globes, then add a ceiling pendant light fixture, such as you can find at Ikea or Lowes.

‘Just call me homegirl‘ searched clearance and made a DIY driftwood lamp that’s super easy. All you need for this driftwood decor idea is a drill and some awesome pieces of wood! Oh, and of course, a lamp. You can check out the thrift store, or text all your BFFs and see if any of them have Grandma’s old table lamp sitting around the garage.

DIY Driftwood Headboard
Alison Lind There’s a designer at Houzz who knows how to make the most of driftwood. This DIY driftwood headboard is quite creative. Yes, I said it Totally. And it is wonderful But 🙂 and “green”! As in, great that she used reclaimed wood, right? While she doesn’t have a tutorial for this idea, you can attach all the boards together by laying them all facedown, then attaching two horizontal stringer boards to the back. Be sure to use screws long enough that they go into the driftwood, but short enough that they don’t go through the front. And this would probably work best with a flat board rather than a round board.

This might be the coolest DIY driftwood decor idea we’ve seen yet. From the Orb ProjectMade in a dayUsed pieces of driftwood, foam balls and a glue gun. These types of pieces go for over $100 at my local home decor store. She has a little trick to make sure the foam ball isn’t even visible. I wonder if, with a large foam ball and a long piece of wood, you could make one Super Orb?
Hopefully, this one doesn’t need a tutorial, it’s that easy! Driftwood decor is known for its imperfections, which is part of what gives it some charm. Look for a piece that already has a natural split down the middle, yet isn’t breaking apart.
