Check out this adorable monkey paper card craft idea for kids! A few easy cuts with your scissors and some gluing and you and your kids can create a monkey! I love giving homemade cards and this is a fun idea that’s perfect for birthdays or children’s events! Grab your craft paper, scissors and glue and start making monkey cards with your kids!

If you’ve ever had a toddler in your life, then you know that monkeys are always a hit. Whether you go to the zoo to visit them or buy a stuffed animal, you usually can’t go wrong with a monkey. Creating this simple card is just another fun way to include your favorite animal in their day. I love homemade cards made by kids because it really encourages them to think of others.
Call me old fashioned, but I love the idea of teaching kids to send cards for birthdays, holidays, and as a thank you when someone sends them a gift. Making your own, like this one, is a great way to make it even more personal. A simple handmade work is great and this card is a perfect choice.

I like to use thicker cardstock or construction paper for cards like this. Since you want it to be a little stronger, you need thicker paper than for other crafts. I often have large reams of plain colored paper, but for this one it all goes to the thicker options.
Actually, although I haven’t tried it yet, I think this would be a great project to use foam paper to make it last longer. Another option would be to use basic copy paper or construction paper and then laminate it using a regular page laminator and trim around the edges. This will keep it safe and sound for years to come!

Use your extra paper to make them adorable paper tulips! Another fun idea for younger kids would be these pastimes Paper plates Winnie the Poohor the charming one puppy paper plate crafts. So fun and easy to make!
You can definitely mail this as you would any card. The only thing to keep in mind is the weight of the card and that it will need a large envelope. For projects like this, I just take a regular envelope and mail it with the extra postage. If you’re good at making things out of paper, you can make a personalized homemade envelope with fun scrapbook paper.

Start by folding the orange paper about ¼ down as shown, and then cut out a circle, leaving the folded area folded over to create a double-sided circle.

Once this is cut out of the paper, you’ll see that it opens up easily for the “card” part of this project.

Now you will trace two small, rounded ears on the orange kraft paper, cut them out and set them aside.

Trace and cut out two rounder ears, just slightly smaller, on cream paper. This will be the inside of the ears.

Glue the cream ears onto the orange ears.

Attach the ears to the top of the “head” circle with the open side being the bottom.

Now you will draw a face shape on the cream paper and cut it out.

Glue the face onto the top of the head as shown and then draw the eyes, nose and mouth with a black marker.

Now you will draw the body on another piece of orange paper. You will want a long oval body and then rounded legs on each side as shown.

Next, cut an oval out of cream paper as shown to go in the middle of the belly.

Glue the body in place on top of the head.

Finally, draw and cut out a tail to attach to the monkey’s back.

Write a simple message on the inside of the monkey’s “head” and share it with friends or family!

Crafters Tips
If you find it difficult to draw shapes freehand, you can use a template or stencil. You can also do what I often do with shapes that are difficult for me to draw and use a Cricut machine to use an SVG file template. Not only does it give you the shape, but it will cut it for you!
Another easy option for this is to find a monkey coloring book and cut it out to trace onto your paper using it as an easy template!
