If you have hard floors, whether they are tile, hardwood, laminate or vinyl, you know how challenging it can be to keep them clean. To tackle dust, grime, crumbs, pet hair, and the occasional spilled drink, you’ll need more than a quick sweep. Additionally, traditional mops can often spread dirty water around instead of actually cleaning the mess. That’s why it’s beneficial to use a smart wet cleaning solution specially designed for this type of job.
to join WashG1 And Clean+Wash hygiene in Dyson’s lineup of wet cleaners, the new PencilWash focuses on hygiene with the company’s wet cleaning expertise and revolutionary pencil-thin design. This allows for easy manipulation and hygienic cleaning to address wet spills and stains with a quick-drying floor finish. “Using hydration, agitation and extraction, it provides cleanliness with only fresh water, supported by our filter-free system,” says John Churchill, Dyson’s chief technology officer. “It brings the simplicity of a broom with the precision and power of Dyson engineering.”
We look forward to testing this new cleaner and providing a full review.
Whether you’re conquering stubborn kitchen grime or refreshing your entryway tile, this innovative tool promises to make hard floor cleaning easier, faster, and more sanitary than ever before.
what It sets it apart
Dyson’s new product takes technology a step further to improve home chores. “We are keen to make machines smaller and lighter while dramatically improving performance,” explains Churchill. “PencilWash™ applies that idea to wet cleaning: our thinnest, ultra-light format that glides effortlessly and reaches where others can’t.”
Here are the innovative aspects of PencilWash that are getting a lot of attention:
- Lightweight: It weighs only 4.9 pounds, but what’s even more remarkable is that most of the weight is in the floorhead. Dyson says the vacuum weighs just 0.8 pounds ‘in hand’ when resting on the floor.
- Compact: The motor and battery are shrunk down to fit in the handle, and the water tanks are located inside the floorhead.
- Ultra-Slim: The pencil-thin design makes this cleaner easy to store.
- Comfortable: The handle is 1.5 inches long and contoured for optimal in-hand comfort.
- Maneuverability: Not only is this cleaner extremely easy to maneuver with a quick turn of the handle, but it also glides easily into tight spots and around awkward corners. It can lie flat to about 170 degrees to clean under low furniture.
- Technology: Instead of relying on suction, this tool uses a combination of hydration and agitation to remove dirt and dry up spills.

Other attractive features
Here are some other notable features of the Dyson PencilWash™ to keep in mind:
- Filter-free: Unlike other wet and dry cleaners, PencilWash™ does not have a filter that can breed bacteria, trap dirt and release unpleasant odors. This makes it easier to clean and ultimately more reliable.
- Customizable Hydration Modes: Two hydration modes are available for precise control of floor wetness to meet different surfaces and cleaning needs.
- Microfiber Roller: It has a high-density microfiber roller, with 64,000 filaments per square centimeter, that spins rapidly to remove wet and dry debris simultaneously. The roller is constantly supplied with water, so you’ll always be using fresh water to clean your floors.
- Attractive charging station: The charging dock is shaped like a small cone, and there’s a drip tray for resting a wet floorhead. Charging time is estimated at 3.5 hours.
- Cleaning solution: You can use pencilwash with just water or mix in some of Dyson’s non-foaming, non-toxic. 02 Probiotic Hard Floor Cleaning Solution (sold separately) which is specially formulated to work with all Dyson wet and dry cleaners for optimized floor cleaning performance and longer lasting cleaning.
