I put the Bedsur Cooling Duvet to the test in HeatWave and I was impressed. The cooling cover definitely delivered The best duvets A run for their money in a bid to cool the market.

It is generally accepted that sleeping in a heatwave is very difficult. Duvets are probably the last thing you want to think about when you’re in the middle of another record-breaking run of hot days. But if, like me, you look forward to a cold sleep, I was actually pleasantly surprised Bedsur Cooling Duvet, which is currently reasonably priced at under £50 for a double on Amazon.
I’m a sleep-product reviewer, and I’ve made a career out of finding the best duvets on the market to fit all preferences and budgets. This Bedsur Cooling Duvet is hard to beat. The cool-to-touch casing is complemented by rayon and bamboo filling. These weighty fillings actually help you stay cool by regulating your temperature and wicking away sweat.
I found sleeping under the Bedsur duvet a real pleasure. I found the combination of the cool sleeping surface, plus the comfortable light weight and silky drape of its fabric and filling helped me sleep better and longer than usual during heatwaves.

While unpacking, what I immediately noticed about this duvet was how cool it felt to the touch (more on that in a bit), and also how pleasantly weighty it felt in my hands.
When it’s hot, I often struggle to sleep without a duvet, as I find the weight of the duvet helps me relax. However, as the temperature rises, I’m torn between wanting the duvet’s height and the fact that it overheats me. So I was delighted with this duvet, which offers light weight and drapes really nicely on my body but also keeps me cool.
The outer duvet cover is silky and soft, meaning you can use it as a coverless duvet if you prefer. It feels similar to a sleeping bag, except that it’s slippery – but thankfully not as sweaty.
The stitching on the duvet is in a curve. This looks great, yes, but in practical terms, it will also keep the filling from sliding around.
The Bedsur Cooling Duvet comes in four solid colors: grey, blue, green and white. There are also tabs on each corner if you choose to fasten it from the inside of the duvet cover.
Overall, I was really impressed with the premium feel and smart design of this duvet.

Temperature regulation
In the summer, I usually sleep under 4.5 togs Skooms Hungarian goose feather and down duvet. However, I tested the Bedsur Cooling Duvet during a record-breaking heatwave in June, and it was definitely too warm for my usual 4.5 tog duvet. I used to resort to sleeping down Piglet in bed linen flat sheet – But I was finding that it was too hot.
All of this is to say, I wasn’t sure I was ready to test the duvet under the current circumstances. It was only the lure of that ‘cool’ promise that made me consider slipping under any kind of cover, and to be honest, I didn’t expect to be swayed by those cool claims. However, I was wrong.
I unpacked the Bedsur cooling duvet as the internal temperature in my house was around 30ºC. Bedsur claims this duvet will instantly cool your body by 4º – in fact fansThis means that it is Q-Max > 0.4. I was intrigued by the idea, and not just because I desperately needed to save my sleep quality in a heatwave.

As a sleep-product reviewer, I know that a drop in core body temperature before bedtime signals the brain that it’s time to sleep. So this duvet may finally help me sleep better if its cooling claims work.
The duvet itself is filled with rayon and bamboo, fabrics associated with good thermoregulation. They allow better airflow around your body, allowing cool air to circulate around you while wicking away sweat. Although it may sound terrible, keeping your sweat away is essential to help your body cool down.
So in practice, did it all stack up? I was surprisingly thrilled to report that yes – I found this duvet’s temperature regulation to be brilliant. I snuggled under the duvet on a sweltering-hot night in the warmest room in the house, and I felt actively cold. It honestly felt like magic.
My husband initially made fun of me for sleeping under a duvet during a heatwave, but I invited him to touch the duvet, and even he had to admit he was impressed by how cool it felt.
A disadvantage? Those cooling powers were less effective if I put a duvet cover over the duvet. It was the silky surface that was actually the most cooling against my hot skin. And that means you’ll need to wash the entire duvet to refresh it instead of just the duvet cover.

Ease of care
The care label advises that the Bedsur Cooling Duvet can be machine washed at 40 on a gentle cycle. You can also dry the duvet on low.
The duvet filling is quite flat and dense, but that means it doesn’t require fluffing or ‘riffling’ like my usual feather and down duvets. However, this meant that it looked slightly flat on my bed, which could be a minus point for those who care about aesthetics.

A sleep trial
One downside of this duvet is that there is no sleep trial available. That means, unlike some duvets, you can’t test it on your bed and return it if it doesn’t suit your needs.
However, it is at least reasonably priced, which I think is a low risk to punt on this cooling cover. More on its price point below.
Value for money
Although this is a mostly synthetic duvet (bamboo aside), I’m still impressed by its low price. A single costs around £40 and a double £50.
According to my research, the The Bedsur Cooling Duvet is also often discounted on AmazonWhich makes its budget-friendly price tag even lower.
The quality of the Bedsur Cooling Duvet is outstanding – as good as duvets I’ve tested that cost 10 times the price (although this may be related to the cost of the filling). It feels durable and lasts.
I double-checked how it was rated online by other owners, and was pleased to note that they too were thrilled with how cool this duvet was in the heatwave.
There were a few people who said it didn’t work for them long into the night, but I wonder if they used it with a duvet cover, which I found made the cooling experience a little less impressive.

I tested the Bedsur Cooling Duvet for 10 days during a record-breaking hot June. The temperature in my bedroom reached around 30 degrees Celsius, and it was not too cold at night.
I had the bedroom windows open and a fan on constantly – my usual setup during very warm nights – so I was able to compare next to the duvet with both a linen sheet and my usual 4.5 tog feather and down duvet.
I monitored my sleep quality using a Aura Ring 4Which gives me an almost overwhelming amount of statistics. It was punishing me for the lack of sleep I was getting during the testing period, but my sleep under the Bedsur cooling duvet seemed to satisfy my aura ring somewhat.
Other things I considered in my testing were the feel and quality of the duvet, how easy it is to care for, and, of course, value for money is always a part of it.
