How to prepare the perfect picnic

To spork or not, that is the question

A lot of picnic food, especially sandwiches and pastries, doesn’t require anything but fingers to eat, but makes for a larger, more lavish meal. Sporks – a spoon-fork hybrid – are an ideal solution for minimalists. However, a collection of inexpensive lightweight cutlery is a great picnic investment. Remember to think about the environment and choose sustainable.

It’s the little things…

Take a small board and a sharp knife or two for cutting bread, cheese, fresh fruit and cakes, a butter knife and spoon. It is always good to have a corkscrew and bottle opener in the pack. Add salt and pepper sauce, bottled sauce and other seasoning mix. Cloth napkins are a great idea. Biodegradable wet wipes and kitchen paper are invaluable, as are a bag or two for collecting rubbish. Always, always, take your trash home or dispose of it in a designated bin.
