I’m all about making homework easier wherever and whenever I can. Because let’s face it, there’s barely enough time in the day to get it all started!

So when I feel like it might save me some time or effort, I’m more than willing to give it a try. And that’s exactly what I did when our photographer Caitlin told us about the new food chopper she uses at home!

She raved about it so much that I ordered one for myself. Little did I know it would soon become my new favorite Kitchen gadget! πŸ™‚

Meet my new best friend in the kitchen, this Chefn VeggieChop Hand Operated Food Chopper. It makes short work of chopping onions or garlic, and you can even use it to make guacamole in record time!

Since I got this handy new gadget a few weeks ago, I’ve found myself using it almost every day for some task or another! Here are some of the reasons why I’m over the moon about this little guy:

5 Reasons Why I Love This Food Chopper

1. No plug or battery

One notable feature that sets this chopper apart from other small food processors is that it is hand-operated. There are no plugs and no battery compartment, just a handle attached to a pull cord!

But don’t let the “hand-operated” label fool you – this little chopper packs a serious punch! The blades whip with more than enough force to cut through hard objects like vegetables, nuts and even large chunks of ice!

2. Easy to use

I already have enough complicated gadgets at home, so it’s nice to have one that can’t be easier to use! All I have to do is put the food in the chopper cup, put the lid on and pull the cord a few times!

3. Dishwasher-safe

The VeggieChop has four main parts: the bowl, the blade, the storage lid, and the lid with the pull cord and handle. When it’s time to clean it, the bowl, blade, and storage lid can all go in the top rack of your dishwasher!

Because of the pull cord in the main lid, it needs to be cleaned a bit more carefully. Most of the time you just need to wipe it off with a damp rag, but if you’re dealing with a stubborn bit of stuck-on food you can use a sponge and some soapy water. (Just avoid submerging the lid in water, as it will shorten the life of the pull cord!)

4. Airtight lid

As I mentioned earlier, the VeggieChop includes an airtight storage lid! It’s great for storing extra guac or salsa in the fridge without dirtying another bowl or container.

In fact, this food chopper has been such a time saver for me that I’ve actually been cooking more since I got it! Knowing that I won’t have to spend 15 minutes chopping stuff has kept me from throwing in the towel and ordering delivery more than once.
