3 Easy Ways to Make Summer Fun

This post is in partnership with Wayfarer

The best summer gatherings aren’t all about being perfect. They are about creating a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable, relaxed and at home.

Over the years, I’ve found that when I have a few favorite entertaining essentials ready, hosting becomes more enjoyable—not only for our guests, but for me as well.

Today I’m sharing three easy ways to get ready for an effortless summer gathering, along with some of my favorite fun essentials from Wayfair.

Three simple ways I prepare for an effortless summer gathering:

1. I gather my serving pieces and entertaining supplies a few days ahead.

A few days before guests arrive, I like to pull everything I need into one place. It helps me think through the details without rushing at the last minute. I gather pretty serving trays, favorite platters, napkins, glasses, pitchers, and anything else I’ll be using so it’s all ready.

One item I always make sure is ready is ours Rechargeable outdoor lamps. I charge them ahead of time so we can add a cozy glow to wherever people gather, whether it’s on the patio, porch, or around the table.

I also love a few cute serving pieces that are practical enough to use all season long! A beautiful presentation can also make simple food feel a little more special.

Some new fun discoveries I love:

Rolling serving cart (color options) // A striped rug

2. I create serving spots away from the kitchen.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that, no matter how much space you have, everyone ends up in the kitchen in one way or another. Instead of fighting it, I plan for it.

I like to set up a simple beverage station on it Rolling serving cart On the porch or nearby patio. It gives guests another place to gather while the kitchen doesn’t feel crowded.

One of my favorite fun pieces is this Glass beverage dispenser With a built-in insert for fruit and a separate ice tube (so you can keep drinks cold without watering them down!). It’s perfect for fruit-infused water, lemonade or iced tea, and looks great sitting out during a gathering.

Round counter-height table

Another favorite is This round counter-height table. It creates an additional place for guests to gather, but it also works beautifully as a buffet for appetizers, desserts, drinks, plates or napkins.

These pieces are perfect for small spaces too!

Spreading things out improves traffic flow, makes it easier for guests to help themselves, and encourages conversation throughout the home—not just around the kitchen island.

3. I focus more on mood than perfection.

People rarely care about what you haven’t done. They remember how your home made them feel.

soft light (The cordless lamps There’s adjustable brightness for just the right mood!), beautiful serving pieces, fresh drinks, delicious food and little thoughtful details create an atmosphere that invites people to linger.

I’ve learned that putting my energy into creating a warm, welcoming mood is always more important than trying to make everything perfect.

By the way, we have been our love Folding bench! We moved it to the front porch this week, and it was so easy to fold and carry. I love versatile pieces like this that can be moved wherever we need extra seating…it makes summer entertaining so much easier!
