A fridge with a built-in water or ice dispenser is obviously top of the line for staying fresh at home but it’s usually very expensive and if you, like me, are a renter, you might not be able to install one even if you wanted to.
That’s where this clever IKEA purchase comes into its own. Not only is it the perfect size to slot on your fridge shelf but it’s also packed with a healthy capacity to keep you hydrated all day – 4 liters is more than enough to see you through a day.

You don’t need to fill this dispenser directly from the faucet every time you refill it. You can save faff thanks to the smart pull-back opening on the front of the dispenser, which also gives you access to the in-built filter.
This filter is what gives you the ability to serve spa-like infused water, flavored with lemon, lime or mint, without any floating bits in it. If you pop it into the filter compartment, you get all the benefits of your detox drink without the texture.

The tape element also has more than one use. It’s the classic type you’d find on a mason-jar type dispenser, which means you can control the flow of water without much effort. According to IKEA, ‘If you want a lot of drink to come out, push it down, and if you want a little, turn it 180° and push down until you’re satisfied.’
So far, out of 89 user reviews, this KLIPPKAKTUS dispenser has a 4 out of 5 star rating from customers, with some commenting that they use it more than their built-in version, thanks to its easy-to-clean nature.
One reviewer comments that ‘My water dispenser on my fridge was under the door shelf, and I thought that was really bad, so we decided to try this. It’s amazing – tops up easily, rarely leaks and the size is just perfect. Also opt for the low filter option, where you can add lime or cucumber to give your water some flavor.’
