Last summer, when I was on vacation I noticed a small gadget sitting on the table of almost every outdoor restaurant. He was a fly fan, and after seeing how well it kept insects off everyone’s food. I was so impressed, I ordered a couple while I was there.
So when I saw Aldi Launching its own Ambiano Bug Repellent Fan for just £2.99It caught my eye right away because I’ll probably pick up a few more when they hit stores on Thursday, July 9th. Used fly fans last summerI can safely say that it is a genius little gadget that keeps flies and other flying insects away from food, making outdoor entertaining germ-free.
If you like hosting BBQsGarden parties and alfresco lunches, having one or two of these is definitely a must. And at that cheap price, I don’t think they’ll stick around for long!

After seeing this fans Day after day in action, I was convinced they were worth trying myself. I bought two and use them near our outdoor kitchen setup and on the outdoor table.
They work brilliantly to keep flies away from food without relying on citronella candles or sprays. Of course, they don’t make for a bug-free garden, but they make a significant difference to where food is prepared and served, which I think is very important when entertaining.
If you’re wondering how something so small can keep flies away, it’s actually surprisingly clever. The soft, flexible blades of the fan spin to create a gentle current of air that disrupts the fly’s flight path, making it difficult for them to hover or land on your food.

At the same time, the blade has a reflective holographic pattern that catches light while spinning. Flies have compound eyes that are particularly sensitive to movement and flashes of light, so the constantly changing reflections make the area look threatening, encouraging them to move clearly (which is like many. Best of all, it does all this without chemicals, sprays or strong-smelling citronella candles, making it an easy, food-safe solution for eating out.
