The best duvets for better sleep in 2026, tried and tested

When it arrived, I had some concerns about feeling cool with the duvet, as it feels very thin compared to my budget duvet that I use a lot, and we’re not at the height of summer yet. However, I needn’t have worried, so far, we’ve had a few cold nights and a few hot ones, and I’ve been neither too hot nor too cold with this 4.5 tog duvet. A nice feature is that the duvet has buttonholes on the edge, and it comes with cufflinks, so you can attach other duvets from the same range to increase the tog rating in colder weather.

The initial thinness may come from how tightly the duvet was rolled when it arrived. After making a bed with it, the filling fluffs up a bit. Hungarian goose down duvets have a pleasant crispness – a slight crunch to the touch that you don’t get with polyester or microfiber duvets. I don’t like feeling too weighed down and suffocated by my bed, so its lightweight nature is perfect for me while still being effective at regulating its temperature. I’ll be interested to see how it performs in warmer weather, and report back.’

Although I tried the 4.5 tog which is ideal for summer heatwaves, I wouldn’t hesitate to opt for a thicker version as we head into the colder months.

Delivery:

‘The duvet arrived in a rather large, The White Company-branded cardboard box, which can be easily broken down and recycled. As the product is over £50, it qualifies for free delivery, and it arrived quickly. Inside, the duvet is packed in a smart, reusable cotton carry bag that I now store my old duvet in. Also inside the carry bag was the cufflink, which came in a small plastic bag (would be nice if it could be a cotton pouch too!), and a warranty and care card.’

Simba Hybrid Duvet, Double

‘The Simba Hybrid Duvet ‘Cloud Nine’ boasts an impressive blend of comfort and innovation to create a sleeping experience. The standout feature for me is the Stratos technology, which really does a fantastic job of controlling the temperature. I tend to get very hot at night, but this duvet has helped keep me comfortable without waking me up too hot. It strikes a good balance between warmth and breathability, making it suitable for year-round use. Many reviews speak of happy couples who have finally found a medium because technology can keep one party warm and the other cold.’

‘Delivery was very easy, and they even offer free next day delivery if you order before 2pm – great for any urgent needs. It comes in Collection A bag that will come in handy if I need to store or transport it in the future.’

For science-backed sleep, look no further than Simba. Using research conducted on behalf of astronauts, their range of bedding provides space-age heat regulation good enough for the stars (literally). The Hybrid Duvet is their bestseller: filled with Renew Bio, Simba’s patented down-like filling and wrapped in recycled PET bottle fiber combed into soft, cushiony layers. This is a must buy for hot sleepers or couples with varying warmth needs.
