Wrapping paper, vinyl, and kraft paper rolls are often stacked in the corner because few storage cabinets are built for oversized supplies. In search of a better solution, Chelsea Mohrman’s husband reused discarded shipping pallets instead of buying another organizer.
Leaving most of the pallets intact, he added only a few boards to create a storage compartment before finishing the front rail with white paint. The result stores wrapping paper, craft supplies, paint cans and tools in one vertical unit that uses less floor space while turning an empty wall into organized storage.
The original palette provides the entire framework
The project began with standard shipping pallets standing upright. Instead of taking it apart, the existing frame remained intact and became the framework for the organizer.
Keeping the pallets whole reduced the amount of lumber, cutting and assembly required to create the finished storage unit.
Added board storage compartment created
The measurements determine where the short boards will close the open gaps between the pallet rails. Each piece was cut before being nailed into position.
Those additions turned the spaces into individual storage pockets without changing the original pallet layout.
White paint defines each shelf
The front rail received a white paint finish while the rest of the pallet retained its weathered wood finish. Contrast separates each storage section and gives the organizer a cleaner look.
The painted rails also covered the mismatched lumber while allowing the reclaimed wood texture to remain visible.
Open supply sections organized by size
The upper compartment holds wrapping paper, vinyl, fabric and craft paper rolls while the center shelves store paints, scissors and small supplies.
Keeping each category together prevents long rolls from falling out and makes everyday content easier to access.
Vertical storage reclaims empty wall space
The finished organizer stores dozens of paper rolls within the footprint of one pallet. Most of the storage extends upwards rather than across the floor.
Using wall space instead of cabinets leaves more room for worktables, shelves or seating.

Small letter labels identify sections for paper and paint while a recessed palette keeps construction visible. Each compartment is open, making it easy to find supplies without opening drawers or cabinet doors.
A discarded shipping pallet becomes a full-height storage organizer capable of holding wrapping paper, vinyl, paint supplies and craft tools in a compact footprint. A few added boards transformed an ordinary pallet into storage that looks custom built rather than improvised.
