Welcome to the Everyday Sanctuary series, where we explore simple ways to create a home that inspires a beautiful life.

Our homes quietly shape our days. That’s why small, thoughtful changes can make such a meaningful difference in how we live.
I’ve found that the way mornings feel has less to do with what’s on the schedule than the rhythm of the home. A peaceful morning isn’t just about having a good routine—it’s about creating a home that inspires the life we want to live.
The little rituals that welcome us into the new day—a made bed, a favorite mug, fresh flowers, music, or tending to a plant on a quiet walk in the garden—can feel unnecessary or even a distraction to a productive day. But I’ve found that it’s often the things that help us slow down and savor the season we’re in.

Somewhere along the way, we have been conditioned to be more present elsewhere than we are in our own homes.
We scroll through other people’s lives, rush from one responsibility to another, and begin to experience our homes as an afterthought—a place to hustle, manage, or simply exist while we watch everyone else live beautifully.
We may even begin to believe that a beautiful life is something other people live—something we have to buy, achieve, or wait to enjoy until everything is right.

But what if a beautiful life is less about what we have and more about what we learn to create and notice?
What if it starts in small, ordinary moments, that we already have here at home?
What if, instead of running from our homes, we allowed ourselves to be raising By them?
I learned this habit long ago, after a tough season. Even then, I was still in a busy time of life, with a job and young children at home. But my motto has become, “Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.”
That simple perspective changed the way I experienced everyday life. It taught me to slow down long enough to notice the beauty in front of me, and I’ve tried to make it an intentional part of my daily life ever since.

This is the heart behind the new Everyday Sanctuary series.
I will share simple ways to experience a greater sense of sanctuary through the everyday moments and rhythms of the gentle home—the home we have here.
Creating a sense of peace doesn’t require a lot of time, a complete lifestyle change, or a home renovation. It starts with small, thoughtful choices that help us be more present in our homes and in our lives.
Let’s start with the importance of how we start our day and some simple ways to invite peace in the morning.

Welcome the day with Med Bed
A made bed is an easy way to create a sense of order and welcome you into a new day.

Invite peace and beauty
Whether it’s a few minutes of silence before the day begins, lighting a candle while you make coffee, or pausing to enjoy a good book instead of scrolling through social media, invite beauty and peace into your morning.
These small choices can gently reset your focus and priorities before the day pulls you in different directions.
I personally love decorating books on social media, here are three that I just love: one // Two // Three (See Here is the complete list of books in my house).

Welcome nature to your morning
Bringing in a few stems from the garden, complimenting a bouquet from the grocery store on the kitchen counter, or tending to plants as you start the day can make an ordinary morning more peaceful and your home more beautiful.
While nothing replaces the experience of live plants for me, I also enjoy decorating with quality faux stems and topiaries. They can bring a sense of beauty to spaces when fresh may not be practical.

Turn coffee (or tea) into a daily ritual
Instead of rushing through it, let it be a small daily pleasure. Use a favorite mug, linger for a few extra moments and enjoy the experience.

A sense of sanctuary at home is created by the everyday experiences we choose to notice and enjoy.
Creating a more peaceful morning is one small way we create a beautiful life.
