12 Genius Ways to Cool Down Fast

1. Ice-cold drinks in a flash
Place your bottle or can in the tub or container, leaving a little extra space between each drink. Pack the gaps and area around bottles and cans with ice. Next, sprinkle a cup or two of salt over the ice, then fill the rest of the container with water. (I usually use rock salt for this, but you can also use table salt.)
Salt interferes with water’s ability to freeze, so the water around your drink will quickly become colder than normal. It’s definitely the best method to use if you want to chill drinks really fast! When I’ve tried it, it only took 10-20 minutes for drinks to reach a deliciously frosted and drinkable temperature.

2. Cool down a hot car
I can’t stand sliding around in my hot car in the summertime. Oh! It’s like sitting in an oven. But I recently learned a trick that cools my car much faster than simply cranking the A/C!
When you get into your hot car, start by rolling down all the windows. Crank up the A/C, but adjust your settings so that it only comes out of the floor vent. This creates an air current that forces warm air up and out through open windows. Your car will cool down in record time!

Another way to cool off at bedtime is to freeze a hot water bottle and keep it near your feet. It won’t keep you cool all night, but it will certainly last you long enough to fall asleep!

4. Cool an overheated pet
Many pets are sensitive to heat, and they can quickly overheat on very hot days. Watch your pet for signs including panting excessively, drooling excessively, tongue hanging out or very red gums.
If your pet shows these signs, make sure they have access to cool water first. Then soak a few towels in cold water (not ice water) and apply them to your pet’s armpit area and groin area. These areas have large blood vessels, so they help your pet cool down faster. If your pet’s symptoms have not improved after 10 minutes, take your pet to your veterinarian or a pet urgent care clinic.

5. Make a cooling body spray
If you spend a lot of time outside in the summer heat, make a simple cooling spray for quick relief! Add a part Aloe vera gel and three parts cold water in a small spray bottle. When the temperature gets really high in the summer, you tend to sweat more (whether you feel sweaty or not!) so it’s really important to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated! Also avoid drinking too many caffeinated beverages, as their diuretic effect will make it difficult to stay hydrated.

If you sweat yourself silly in hot weather, use that sweat to cool yourself by creating a breeze inside your home. Simply open the windows on opposite sides of the house (or a room, if you’re only cooling one room) and place a fan in front of each window, one facing inward and one facing outward. One fan will draw air into the room while the other fan will push air out through another window.
It’s not quite the same as a working air conditioning unit, but it’s a pretty decent solution in a pinch! You can also place a bucket filled with ice in front of a fan pointing inward to cool the hot air of the day.
Creating a breeze like this is more effective at night when the air temperature is cooler, so be sure to use this trick overnight to cool your home throughout the day!

I cannot verify the veracity of this original story, but apparently it is believed that the ancient Egyptians had a method of keeping themselves cool while sleeping. And you can use it too!
