The 4th of July is right around the corner and we like to celebrate it with some crafts! Here’s a fun project that all kids will love. Our patriotic slime will keep them entertained at a cookout and it’s super easy!
Why is this slime so funny?
This borax-free slime is made using clear school glue, food coloring, and lots of glitter and sequins, like our Mermaid slime! With baking soda and a saline solution from the medicine shelf, you’ll bring it back to life in minutes.
The only thing more fun than making this patriotic slime recipe is watching a fireworks show.
Craft supplies you will need
If you don’t have star sequins, mix in regular red, silver or blue sequins or even rhinestones. We found our star sequins at Michaels craft store. For both glitter and food coloring, start with a little and add more as you like until you get your desired shine and intensity.

How to make patriotic slime

- Empty all 4 oz bottle of clear glue in a plastic bowl.
- Add a teaspoon of baking soda.
- Squirt into a spoon saline solution.
- Stir for a minute or so baking soda Melt and the mixture begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl. At times, you have to knit with your hands. If the mucus is still sticky, squirt in a little more saline solution until it’s easy to pull off.
- Pour your desired amount of iridescent fine glitter. We used about 2 tbsp for this batch.
- Pour your desired amount of Star sequins.
- Mix until the sequins and glitter are evenly distributed.
- Take 2 helpings of slime from the white slime batch and pour into two small bowls (you will divide the whole batch into 3 parts to make red, white and blue).
- Add 3-4 drops of red color Food coloring 3-4 drops of food coloring in one batch and another batch. Knead by hand (you will get food coloring on your hands).
- Roll the slime into a cylinder shape by hand and place in red, white and blue order.

- We mixed in iridescent fine glitter and multi-colored star sequins, but also try adding in foam balls for a cool, sensual feel (see our Flow tutorial to see what we mean!).
If you are making this slime for party favors, you can put the slime in clear jars like we did in our Pumpkin Slime And Black glitter slime. Why did my gums turn purple?
Primary my dear! Red and blue make purple, so after playing with and manipulating the slime for a while, the colors will muddy together and eventually turn purple.

Instructions
