Pollini at Ladbroke Hall
The old Sunbeam-Talbot car factory, one Edwardian The building, at the top of Ladbroke Grove, was restored in 2023 by Ghanaian-British architect David Adje. Now home to a carpenter’s workshop gallery, exhibitions may focus on Japanese ceramicists or the relevance of copper in design. But plenty visit Emanuele Pollini’s dairy for a feast of tomato and anchovy pizzette and wild sea bass carpaccio. Their signature dish is spaghetti Red shrimp Made with pesto, stracciatella and red shrimp. And the garden, designed by Luciano Giubili, is one of west London’s best-kept secrets.

Spring at Somerset House
When chef Skye Gyngell moved into Somerset House next to the Courtauld Gallery in 2014, she redefined what a museum restaurant could be. It quickly became one of the hottest restaurants in town for its plates of veal tonnato and crab tagliolini. These days it is not considered a museum restaurant at all. Few people know spring London’s first single-use-plastic-free restaurant, and it’s a three-course zero-waste menu for £40 until 5.30pm (Tuesday to Saturday). The ‘scratch’ menu turns leftover porridge into bread and serves beetroot tops in an ‘outer leaf’ salad. For something quick, Syrian Cafe Aram, also inside Somerset House, serves excellent falafel pita.

Design Kitchen at the Design Museum
Sir Terence Conran founded the museum in Kensington High Street in 1989 to showcase the UK’s most ingenious design. Therefore, it is not surprising that the restaurant space is somewhere worth spending time. Designed by Matthew Williamson, it looks out over Holland Park and takes its inspiration from the landscape, as well Internal Painted in three colors of green. The menu is simple but serves interesting plates such as wildfarmed sourdough with labneh and apricots, or an excellent house club sandwich filled with marinated roasted sweet peppers and courgette.

Akira at Japan House
Japan House studies the nation Culture From all angles and so it is fitting that the museum restaurant Akira celebrates Japanese presentation and Tableware as well as food. There’s a three-course omakase menu made up of dishes like spicy yellowtail carpaccio, asparagus cooked on a robata grill and scallop tempura topped with salmon roe. But it’s hard to beat a cute bento box for lunch, with each compartment offering carefully considered bites. If it’s just a quick pit stop, refuel with a matcha green tea mille-crepe cake.
