If you tried to sign into Facebook—or maybe Instagram or Messenger—this morning and weren’t able to, you’re not alone. A a lot On Friday morning, users were having trouble accessing some of Meta’s key apps. At this time, it looks like the Meta service is running into problems, meaning Facebook, Instagram and Messenger may be down.
According to Downdetector (owned by Lifehacker’s parent company Ziff Davis), Facebook had more than 200,000 user reports as of 10:20 am ET—although I’m not currently able to pull up Facebook or Instagram’s Downdetector pages. There may be too many users trying to report these sites that Downdetector is struggling to keep up, or perhaps there is a widespread outage affecting Downdetector as well.
According to the official status site of the metaOnly Facebook Ads Manager is experiencing issues. The site seems to only track business-facing meta products, however, so meta’s core products are left off the list.
What do you think so far?
In any case, I will keep this article updated with the latest news related to Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. If this is like most outages, Meta will have these services back up and running soon.
