Learn how to make the cutest beaded hat to add a fun and unique personal touch to any baseball cap.

Hello! Today I have a really fun craft tutorial to share with you. I’m going to show you how to make a beaded hat. These are simple strings of fun beads that you can clip to the brim of any baseball cap. It’s a simple craft that doesn’t take a lot of time, but it sure is fun to be able to personalize a baseball cap and some pizzazz. I love these and can’t wait to make more!
Let me walk you through each step so you can make this craft with confidence. Here’s what you’ll need:

Instructions
Step 1: The first thing we need to do is to prepare the embroidery thread so that it is easier to draw through the beads. Measure the brim of your hat, then add about 6-8 extra inches to that length and cut a piece of embroidery thread. Then rub each end of the thread over the top of the glue stick. Make sure the threads are nice and stick together easily.

Let this dry for about an hour. When the glue dries, the ends of the thread will be stiff. This makes it so that you thread them through the beads without splitting the different strands. Such a great little trick!
Step 2: Now that your thread is ready, it’s time to thread your beads. I like to start with whatever design I want to go to the center, then work outwards on either side to keep things symmetrical.

Step 3: You will know you have the correct amount of beads on your thread when the bead is large enough to go from one end of the hat to the other. Tie a lobster clasp at one end with a double knot. Then make sure all the beads are tight together and add a lobster clasp to the other end with another double knot.
Step 4: To finish it off, I like to thread the thread back through three or four beads, then cut off the excess string length.

Step 5: If you have a baseball cap with a mesh back, simply open the lobster clasp and hook it through the mesh to attach the charm to your hat.
If you have an all-fabric baseball cap, you’ll need to take one more step.
Step 6 (For fabric caps only): Grab a length of embroidery floss or regular sewing thread that matches the color of your hat. Thread it into a strong needle. Poke up from the back of the hat just where you want to attach your charms. Use a small dowel, wrap the thread around the dowel, then go down into the hat. Repeat a few times to make a tight little loop of thread. Tie to the underside of the hat, then slip the dowel through and you’ll have a nice little loop to attach your charm!

I think this is a beautiful idea. And I love that you can make a few different ones and easily switch them up to change the look of the hat. I made this for the Fourth of July:

And for this one I went a little more girly with sparkly beads and pearls:

And don’t forget you can add dangle charms too! There are seriously endless possibilities with this craft. Fun stuff!
