A bouquet of pink and peach flowers in a textured blue vase sits on a wooden table next to two small blue and white porcelain jars with floral patterns.

Random thoughts on a bright, shiny new Saturday morning:

1. I like grown children. I mean, I loved every phase of growing up (except when they were two). But there’s just something about having a kid who’s grown up that you become friends with. Someone you invite for dinner. Someone who is interesting. Someone who makes you laugh.

Someone who makes you proud to be their mother.

2. I just found the cutest readers. I wanted a cat-eye reader because they looked so vintage. But for my face shape, these were better.

They come in sets of three for under $10 (and the one pictured at the bottom is the best).

you You can see them here.

3. Have you read anything by Tessa Arlen? she wrote Dress of violet taffetaAnd that is very good. I Love the way she writes. The book is a rags-to-riches true story about a woman who creates her own haute couture brand at the turn of the century. There is also a love story and story associated with the Titanic.

you See more about it here.

4. It was a great week on the blog. We discussed:

5. Have you seen the new show called The Madison with Michelle Pfeiffer? I’m only in 1 episode, but I love the scenery, and she’s an amazing actress.

you A preview can be seen here.

And now?

Here are some of my favorite finds on the web.

let’s go

Mini cherry pies in glass jars, topped with star-shaped pastry, displayed on blue star-patterned cloth. A cherry bowl with fresh cherries and leaves is nearby, adding a patriotic, festive touch.

Aren’t these the sweetest mini sweets?

I go to a party and I think I can make it.
