If you are looking for the ideal sofa for a small space, we recommend starting with measurements and trying to imagine how much height, width and depth the sofa will occupy. If the room has an existing sofa, compare the measurements of the new one with the old one. If you’re furnishing an empty room, doing something basic like blocking the sofa with other objects or boxes can be a helpful exercise in getting a feel for how big the sofa feels. It’s one (very critical) thing to make sure the sofa literally fits, but it’s another to make sure it feels and looks like it fits there.
Something else to keep in mind is getting into that room. If doors are particularly tight or there are stairs to navigate, a sofa that needs to be partially or fully assembled may be better suited to the situation. The last thing you want is a room that’s perfectly sized, then the sofa arrives and it won’t fit through the front door.
