The Stratos side took a little longer to soften than the cotton side but after a few nights it was extremely comfortable. And we love the fact that this duvet is machine washable and can be tumble dried. Really warm sleepers can still struggle in the height of summer, though, with a high tog rating – although it’s recommended as one for year-round use on the Simba website. If you want to be incredibly picky, the rounded corners of the duvet make it a bit difficult to get into the duvet cover but, overall, the Woolroom duvet makes for a fantastic night’s sleep.
Anti Allergy All Season Combi 13.5 Tog (4.5+9 Tog) Duvet
Affordable and cheerful, the most expensive All Seasons Super King size duvet still comes in at under £50, the Slumberdown Anti Allergy duvet is Allergy UK approved and a great choice for allergy sufferers on a budget. It’s probably not the best option for hot sleepers because of its recycled polyester cover, but for the perfect price it’s hard to beat. Customers say it is extremely soft and comfortable to sleep under.’

Decent allergen-free duvets can be expensive so, if you’re on a budget, Homescapes duvets should be on your radar. It uses a dust mite resistant 200-thread-count cotton cover and the filling is 50% silk and 50% polyester. Both silk and cotton are naturally hypoallergenic and here, even when combined with polyester, I found the duvet light, well made and breathable. There are two togs to choose from (13.5 and 4.5) and the duvet also does a great job of keeping my husband, who stays warmer, cooler and more comfortable at night.’
