Deluxe Washable Wool Duvet, Light

‘When I first unpacked the Woolroom duvet, I wasn’t entirely sure it would be thick enough to keep me warm enough at night. My husband, a hot sleeper, was pleased with the thin presentation of the duvet, but it turns out I needn’t have worried, as the Woolroom Duvet did an absolutely fantastic job of keeping us both comfortable all night. The duvet was also completely quiet with no annoying rustling when you turn the bed. I also appreciated the fact that it’s machine washable, although you can’t tumble dry it. Of the many duvets I’ve tested over the years, Woolroom is the one I keep coming back to for its comfort and breathability.’

‘Delivery was quick and efficient, with the duvets sent by DPD Local, who kept me updated with texts and emails as well as full tracking details. The duvet came in a lovely cotton bag big enough to fit any spare duvets.’

Established in 2008, Woolroom prides itself on using only traceable British wool in its products, with a host of certificates to back it up. They carry the Allergy UK seal of approval on all products, and the duvets are OEKO-TEX Class 100 certified with Woolmark certification.

The Deluxe Washable Duvet range is the brand’s most popular, thanks largely to the fact that it is washable (the cheaper Classic range is not). With a variety of weights to choose from, the Light option is ideal for summer with its equivalent tog rating of 2-5; It feels comfortable and soft to the touch from close. If you want to be incredibly picky, the rounded corners of the duvet make it a bit difficult to get into the duvet cover but, overall, the Woolroom duvet makes for a fantastic night’s sleep.

4.5 Tog Hungarian Goose Down Duvet

‘This best-selling duvet is filled with a luxurious combination of goose down and goose feathers, enclosed in a cotton percale jacquard. When it arrived, I had some concerns about feeling cool with the duvet, as it feels very thin compared to my budget duvet that I use a lot, and we’re not at the height of summer yet. However, I needn’t have worried, so far, we’ve had a few cold nights and a few hot ones, and I’ve been neither too hot nor too cold with this 4.5 tog duvet. A nice feature is that the duvet has buttonholes on the edge, and it comes with cufflinks, so you can attach other duvets from the same range to increase the tog rating in colder weather. The duvet also has a delightful crispness and is highly effective in regulating its temperature, making it an ideal choice for the summer months.’

‘The duvet arrived in a rather large, The White Company-branded cardboard box, which can be easily broken down and recycled. As the product is over £50, it qualifies for free delivery, and it arrived quickly. Inside, the duvet is packed in a smart, reusable cotton carry bag that I now store my old duvet in. Also inside the carry bag was the cufflink, which came in a small plastic bag (would be nice if it could be a cotton pouch too!), and a warranty and care card.’

Down, while not responsibly sourced, can be controversial in terms of animal welfare, so it’s reassuring to know that White Company’s down is all sourced from cruelty-free suppliers as a byproduct of the food industry. This cloud-like and airy duvet isn’t the cheapest option but it’s definitely the most luxurious, and it does a great job of keeping sleepers cool even when the weather is particularly hot.
