Design Notes
The preservation of the building’s history incorporated with contemporary design elements is striking throughout the hotel. On the ground floor, the walls and vaulted ceiling are decorated with pastel blue cloud murals in the lobby, followed by sage green velvet in the bar area. Elsewhere, historical frescoes have been preserved. The glass-roofed atrium restaurant, where breakfast is served every morning, is one of the most beautiful spots. Decorated with wicker bistro chairs, Fortuny lanterns and giant potted plants that bring the outdoors in, it has an airy, open feel.
Old and new coexist in rooms with curated antique and vintage furnishings along with luxurious fabrics and modern accessories. On our visit we stayed in the Chaplin Suite, which has a living area with sofas and chairs for relaxing, an attractive balcony, generous the bathroom which is complete with a standalone bathtub and double vanity unit as well as a separate shower room.
Why stay here?
It’s something special to stay in a place that has so much history within its walls, while at the same time offering all the modern comforts and extra touches you’d expect from a small luxury hotel. James is also perfectly placed to find the treasures of Florence, though he remains secluded enough that he rests deeply.

It is a very memorable experience offered by the hotel and one that you may not get a chance to do otherwise.
