Looking for ideas for an Italian inspired table setting? Here’s one I made using this tablecloth from the Amalfi Coast.
Before I even begin this post, I have an exciting announcement.
Our son, Denton, just got engaged.
I’m going to do a whole post on the sweetest proposal on earth (Including a 10 point PowerPoint on why her fiance should marry her) and the celebration that followed.
Today is really about this tablecloth that my mother brought me back from Italy, but my heart was so full that I had to share!!!!!
And now?
Back to our regularly scheduled post.
Have you seen this pattern before? It’s kind of famous. It comes from the Amalfi Coast, and features Sicilian lemons from that region.
My mother and sisters went to a wedding in Italy last fall (I was invited, but I was too scared to get on the plane to go) and my mother brought me back this tablecloth.
I wasn’t sure how to decorate with it.
And then?
I got the idea to use it to decorate the table for Mother’s Day.
What better way to honor my mother’s gift?
Here was my vision.
the truth?
In my head, I always punctuate my decorating ideas.
Sometimes I have a question mark on decorating ideas.
Like….Why did I ever start this?
or…what do i do now
And…Hey….what was I thinking?
Question mark ideas are the worst.
But the best kind of decorative project?
// Lemon //
Exclamation projects.
When the stars align.
When the universe is right on its axis.
And Willie Nelson belts out a hallelujah chorus, accompanied by an angelic choir playing banjo.
And then you know you know you know you made….
…..an exclamation point decorating idea!!!!!
Like….I can’t believe it came out!
And….This is amazing!
or….It’s better than I could have ever imagined!
And I made it using this.
Lemon.

i know, right?
Lemon.
Wonderful, yellow, spring, fresh lemon.
You can get them at the grocery store or you can get fake lemons like the ones I have that last all spring and summer.
you Lemons like this can be found here.
Here’s how I put the table together.
tablecloth
Let’s start with what started it all.
The tablecloth.
It has this Italian majolica pattern. Apparently, lemons symbolize hospitality and abundance and sunshine. This pattern is associated with the Amalfi Coast and the region called Faenza. It has swirls and floral arabesque scrolls that are emblematic of architecture in the region.
My mother explained it all when she gave me the tablecloth (which made me love it even more).
So imagine my surprise when I saw that Target released a line to match my tablecloth.
Can you believe it?
// Lemon candles // False candles //
Candles and false candles
I ordered these lemon candles.
Aren’t they the cutest?
They have a lemon around them and a blue border above and below.
I added These fake wax candles for candles.
you Here you can see the candles.

// Lemon Salt and Pepper Shakers //
The lemon salt and pepper shakers
As soon as I saw this, I knew I had to have it.
I really love lemons, but I’ve never seen a salt and pepper shaker like this.
And the tray is a leaf.
They are perfect with Amalfi Coast tablecloths.
you Here you can find salt and pepper shakers.

These lavender topiaries
I added these lavender topiaries from Trader Joe’s to the table.
Did you know lavender topiaries were a thing?
They smell amazing and have the most beautiful blooms on top.
Lemon.
Awesome lemons and this awesome tablecloth.
The perfect way to decorate for Mother’s Day (I can’t wait for my mother to see it).
And to look into the room when I stood back with this bowl full of lemons?
My heart laughed.
And the birds chirped and the bells rang and the marching band began to play my song.
And I know that somewhere….
….Willie Nelson was singing 🙂
Here are some fun ideas for lemon decor
