This warm and serene LA home is its owner’s love letter to European design

In the main BedroomThe mood shifts to something softer, more transportable: the walls are covered in Mediterranean stripes Wallpaper by Schumacher, setting the scene for a space that feels both composed and quietly evocative. A travertine fireplace anchors the room, while bespoke shelving with a brass finish adds gentle warmth. The oversized headboard, designed by Merrill herself, was born from a simple, persistent dream of waking up on the Amalfi Coast, to which she returns often. Rendered in shades of green and blue with alternating panels of silk and velvet, it brings a subtle sense of movement and light to the room, as if echoing the shifting tones of the ocean outside the window.

In the kitchen, traditional European spirit blends with contemporary ideas. Shelves are lined with vintage French crystal collected over the years, each piece adding to the feeling of living history. An apparatus chandelier hangs above the island, casting a soft, sculptural light throughout the space. A Bordeaux La Cornue range, reminiscent of the one Meryl grew up with Franceanchors the room, while Ghidi stools, vintage Borovier and Toso vases, and striped wallpaper bring together classicism and playfulness, form and function.
